I am finally home from my vacation to Georgia and Alabama and wanted to sit down and write you a quick note of thanks for an absolutely wonderful "Stay and Learn" vacation with you and Ange. I had a wonderful weekend and can't actually believe I was able to walk (!) and play golf after my 5 lessons. I learned so much and came back to West Virginia, armed with Dot's video tape to show my trainer everything!
Of course, my first lesson back on my horse - Murphy - was quite an eye opener! I tried my new exercises and new"hips" and, at first, got a reaction from Murphy like - "Who is this on my back".
After about l5 minutes, we were actually on the bit and much more energy from behind and I could see some differences. I told my trainer that I received "most improved hips" from my lunge lessons with Ange for my weekend efforts. My first show is coming up on April 22nd where I am riding Training 3 and First l - so I'll let you know how it goes. I really felt my 2 lunge lessons with Ange helped my enormously with my seat and hips. I loved working with Pago and felt his gaits and conformation were so similar to Murphy. I, of course, was devastated after my very first lesson on Ricki. However, I just read the article Ange wrote about working with Ricki when she first arrived - wow - could I ever relate! I guess I was fortunate that I got him to canter at all.
My lessons with you were so informational and working the 20 meter and 10 meter cones, utilizing my hands properly, and pushing the energy from behind was exciting. I learned so much and am very grateful for the opportunity to stay and learn with you. I'm glad LeAnn's friend couldn't come as well and a new friendship was formed. It's so much fun to have someone else to share the lessons and weekend with. Thank you for scrumptious meals and your hospitality. I hope Ange passed her examinations with flying colors. I look forward to staying with you again on my next trip to Atlanta and learning more and more. Thank you for a wonderful weekend and please thank Ange for me as well.
