Confessions of a Horse-Husband
I am a Horse-Husband. You know...the man who accompanies his wife all over the country for the sake of her riding habit. When Joanne proposed a trip to Georgia to ride with Gina Krueger, I was my usual skeptical self. I assumed that we would spend a lot of money training with someone who was better than us and go home feeling like we had wasted our time and money. You've all been there. I agreed to the trip only because my wife agreed to ride on the back of the motorcycle for 5 hours to get there. The mountains of north Georgia are a motorcyclist's dream! Besides, Dahlonega has many great restaurants and shops to entertain.
My confession is that I had a wonderful time watching my wife's lessons with Gina. Gina is genuinely interested in teaching anyone who wants to learn and she has a gift for teaching. She not only instructed Joanne on how to do the movements but gave very clear explanations of why they are performed the way they are and how they relate to the horse. Armed with this knowledge, my wife was able to return home and continue working with the lessons on her own. Joanne is happier and so is her horse.
John and Gina are very pleasant and accommodating hosts and we truly enjoyed visiting with them when the lessons were done. I am sure we will see them again.
Me? I'm no longer "skeptable".
