ASTERIX (As-ter-ick), owned by Lorna, is a 16.2 hand, 23 year old Danish Warmblood gelding who has joined us after a successful FEI career. His decidedly quiet nature can fool you into thinking this horse could not possible perform at the most advanced levels, but he will prove you wrong. His lofty trot impresses even the most skeptical rider.
K.R.LIBERLE (Berl) owned by Lori, is a 16.2 hand, 16 year old Imported Dutch Warmblood gelding. He is confirmed at 3rd level, with expressive single changes and schooling the 4th level movements and half steps. He is great fun to ride being very forward and enjoying his work to the fullest. The way to Berl’s heart is a good long scratch under the chin, he loves that.
IMPRESARIO (Impy) is owned by Ashley Marascalco. Impy is a 22 yr. old, 17 hand German Imported Hanoverian FEI gelding schooled through Grand Prix and shown through Intermediare 1. After taking a break while Ashley focused on College he is now back in performance mode. The pair is gearing up for spring competition. Work on your seat, improve your feeling and earn a lesson on Impy. You will need pages in your riding journal to express the value of the many lessons learned. He is an honest, trustworthy gelding who can take a child out on the trail or school the most advanced of riders through tempis, pirouettes, piaff, passage, etc.
KENO is also owned by Ashley. He is a 24 yr old, ex racehorse thoroughbred gelding. Keno is trained through 3rd level and shown trough 2nd. A very kind and forgiving soul that will let you try it once, twice, and again, if you need to. Just what we all need to learn on. Rhythmical gaits to help you get the feel while his wonderful demeanor instill confidence and thus relaxation in his rider. As our senior member, he is now used only as a lesson horse for beginner children.
MISS KITTY (Kitty), owned by Garland Farms, is a 16.1 hand, 9 year old Dutch mare. Her metronome like gaits makes her a favorite for seatwork on the Lunge line. Her quietly swinging back at the trot makes capturing the flexible hip motion, required for improvement in the sitting trot, a breeze. Kitty is well versed in the 2nd level movements.
LUCKY LOOK (Lucky), owned by Marilyn, is a 16.3 hand, 15 year old Imported FEI Dutch gelding. Lucky you will be to have spent time on this impressive horse. With three melodical gaits and a unique feel he will let you know in no uncertain terms that throughness is the key all good riding. He has scored in the mid 60's at PSG and Intermediare 1. His color will wow you right off the bat though, it lacks in comparison to what he can teach you.
PANACHE (Pun-osh), owned by Garland Farms, is a 16.1 hand, 20 year old Hanoverian mare, by our stallion Pik. She is a “School Master” in every sense of the word carrying students from absolutely no experience to advanced riders. She will question you to see if you really do know what you are doing. She often astounds her riders with her hidden talents. She is quite happy to let the rider think she is simply a good old quiet school horse; she is not about to strut her stuff for an unenthusiastic partner. Sit up, find your seat, she will show you what dressage is all about!
PEGGY SUE owned by Garland Farms, is a 16.1 hand, 13 year old, Hanoverian and TB/Paint cross mare by our stallion Pik. When Peggy’s professional show career was cut short due to an injury she came home to Garland to recuperate and has since healed and gone back to work. We are so lucky to have her on our team. If lightness, quietness and specificity are among your goals than Peggy is the teacher for you. Schooled through 4th Level, she teaches the more intermediate riders. Peggy challenges the rider to rely on the subtlest of aids. Her attention to detail helps the riders to concentrate well on their own.
PESSA owned by Garland Farms, is a 15.3 hand Hanoverian/Quarter Horse cross, 8 year old, mare, by our stallion Pik. Her soft supple way of going inevitably reinforces the concept that the rider MUST bring the horse to the bit from the back to the front and not visa versa, impossible to do on this mare. She offers the Training level rider passage to that illusive feel of a first level horse that remains confidently on the bit. Her enthusiasm and comfortable size make for a very enjoyable ride.
RIP! PIK WINLAND, (Pik) Pik was our resident stallion. He was an Imported Hanoverian and stood 16.1/2 hands. Delight, is the best work I can think of to describe riding this horse. He was a delight to converse with. His gaits were delightful to sit on. He brought delight to the riders face when you felt his powerful, athletic, controlled body lift and swing into motion. Epiphanies are many with an equine instructor like that. His effortless swinging movement and extreme ease in all the lateral movements made him a wonderfully fun horse to ride. Perhaps a bit intimidating for those who have heard all the scary Stallion stories, but Pik would put you at ease. Truly a Mazaratti wrapped up in a beautiful horse stature. How quiet can you ride? Pik could hear what you think!!!!
PRECELLI, (Celli) Precelli is a 15.3 hand 15 year old Hanoverian Mare by our Stallion Pik. She is her Daddy in a bit smaller package with the volume turned up just a tad! She is also Psychic, that is hears what you think. A wonderful instructor for the rider looking to develop the specificness of their seat. Precelli is schooling the 2nd level movements. Her canter is especially up hill and elastic offering her riders a good opportunity to feel and perfect the timing of the half halt in canter.
RAMSES (Rams) owned by Garland Farms, is a 16.3 hand, 13 year old Hanoverian/TB cross gelding. He has shown through 3rd level and is a virtual workhorse. That is to say he loves his work and wants you to love it too. Named for the great Egyptian king his royalty is reflected in his powerful movement, a real treat to ride. A bounding canter that lengthens and shortens with a breath is a wonderful experience to learn how little one really has to demand in order to receive great rewards.
TERRA BELLA (Princess or your Royal Highness!), owned by Garland Farms, is a 8 yr old Dutch Warmblood X Arabian. Sired by the Iron Springs stallion, Juventus. Terra would like you to bring her either a Tierra or a royal robe when you come to visit her. Which of course would be your only reason for coming to Garland in the first place... She is a princess and she can teach you to ride like one, or a prince if that may be the case. Refinement of the aids is her specialty. Not too much, not to many, not to hard, not to often.....relax, breath..... life is good.
